Mommy & Daddy are really enjoying how much I’ve been talking lately. They like to see if I will repeat the things they say.
This morning they asked me to say “Happy Anniversary” but I said “no” because that is really long and hard to say.
Then mommy tricked me by asking me to say “happy” which I said and then asked me to say “anniversary” which I also managed but it sure does have a lot of syllables!
I don’t know what Happy Anniversary means.
I do know what happy means though.
Happy is when…
…I wake up after a nap and mommy or daddy is there to give me a big hug and
…mommy holds me when she’s cooking so I can help and
…daddy reads to me in bed at night and tucks my babies in with me and
…I get to wear my Dora socks.
Mommy & daddy got a new camera so they have been taking even more pictures of me than normal.
Today Abigail took a nap in her real bed for the first time. She has a bunk bed set from IKEA that doubles as a fort and a story time area. But today, it is serving it’s original intended purpose.
Before I put her down for her nap today, I talked to her about the bed, and asked her if she wanted to nap on the bed or the crib. She pointed at the bed.
So I grabbed a few stuffed animals from her crib, and loaded them into the bed. Next, I pulled back the blankets. Then I told her that she could lay down on the bed for her nap. She laid down and I reiterated that she would be taking a nap. I told her goodnight and walked away.
For about 10 minutes, I could hear her making noises once in a while, but then she fell asleep! I’m so proud of her for doing such a good job!
We did try this several months ago, but she got out of bed and cried standing next to the crib. I think it helps that she sees kids in daycare sleep on cots for naptime, even though she still sleeps in the crib.
Next step, potty training (but we’ll take our time with that)!
In the last month Abigail has become increasingly mobile.
She now crawls, climbs & cruises on the furniture.
She can get off her toy car by herself.
Go from crawling to sitting to standing in a matter of seconds.
She walks along our new furniture and the kitchen chairs at daycare, even getting stuck under the table one day this week!
She discovered the “circle” in our house and has taken to doing laps with daddy in the evenings. On Wednesday night she made it around 7 times before getting tired (or was it daddy that got tired? )
Abigail turned nine months old yesterday. We are very excited that she is growing so fast.
The last three months have brought many exciting changes in her life, including:
New Daycare – She began going to a daycare in Eagan, and she loves it. There are two other kids that are close to her age and she adores them. One of them is older and one is younger. Everyday she comes home with a smile on her face (As a side note, she often also comes home with dirty clothes from some pretty amazing diaper blowouts!).
Solid foods – Not too long ago, Abigail had barely eaten solid foods. Three months ago, solid foods were somewhat of a novelty for her. Now, she has three meals a day that are solids. She loves the pasta baby foods like “Lasagna in meat sauce.” She is also a big fan of Pizza crust (she shares with her daddy), Pancakes, Kix, and Crackers.
Crawling – Yep, that’s right. She is now moving around the house. She began crawling like a normal crawl on Wednesday, February 4th. Before that, she opted for the “scoot and roll method.”
Church Nursery – Abigail is now spending Sunday morning in the church nursery. Now that she is becoming mobile, this is a great location for her.
Weekend away from mommy and daddy – She got to spend a whole weekend with her grandma (Kathy Pearson) while her mom and dad went up to Two Harbors. This was the first time that both of us were gone overnight from her. She did great.
Mommy & Daddy moved some stuff around in our house this week. There is a bigger couch in the living room, the TV is in a different spot, mommy isn’t sitting in her rocking chair anymore and they took my swing apart and put it in a box.
I used to sit here with mommy:
Now we sit here:
I’m not used to seeing this couch because it has always been in the basement.
Today is Thursday. Thursday is when mommy leaves me with Daddy all evening and he puts me to bed. Alot of Thursdays I’m cranky because I miss mommy. She seems pretty happy in the morning so I think she likes going out on Thursdays but Daddy & I still miss her! She said something about going to a movie tonight. I hope she has fun. I remember going to a movie when I was littler. I think I slept through most of it but I’m sure it was good or mommy & daddy wouldn’t have brought me!
I’m excited about this weekend because I get to see Grandma Kathy tomorrow night and see Grandma & Grandpa Myrvik on Saturday & Sunday. I get to see all my other cousins too! It’s going to be a great weekend!
Daddy set up this blog thing for me so I guess I’d better start using it! I hope my grandparents remember that I have my own blog so they can come here and read about me instead of just reading mommy & daddy’s blogs.
I’ve been tired lately. You see, I’ve been having this pain in my mouth that mommy & daddy says is “teething”. I don’t think I like teething. I do feel better when I get to chew on daddy’s finger and last night he said he felt something in my mouth! He called mommy over to have a look, then she stuck her finger in my mouth and I chomped down on it and she said she could feel it too! They hugged me and told me good job but I’m not sure what I did! I was sad because my mouth still hurt and they rubbed something on my gums then mommy held me close until I fell asleep.
I’d better let you see some cute pictures of me from this weekend.
